Lambda Core

Lambda Core: Gensokyo

PROLOGUE Unknown Guest
Black screen. A faint voice, distorted like a dimensional echo: > “It isn’t about survival alone. It’s about how they treat you when you do. Every path is yours… including the ones that end in death.” - Unknown The line fragments like a corrupted G-Man intro. Hard cut to black.
23:00 - Eientei, Gensokyo Reisen and Tewi arguing. Camera: first-person Eirin, quietly pouring tea for Kaguya. Tewi (JP VO): ”Hey! Reisen! That’s mine!” Reisen: “I said first come, first served!” Sakuya-like clattering, dishes, warm light, Eientei calm as always. Camera switches to a wide shot of everyone finishing a late dinner. Transition to 00:00.
00:00 - Eientei Quiet Hallway Everyone heads out. Eirin remains, cleaning up the last dishes -- alone, silent, methodical. A sudden sound: (KRAK--THUD!) Wood splinter + metallic clatter. Camera: Instant snap to first-person, Eirin freezing mid-movement. Centered subtitle: UNWANTED GUEST
Exterior - Behind Eientei Eirin pushes the back door. Humidity, cicadas, moonlight. Broken crate on the ground -- half crushed. Eirin kneels, brushes aside debris. Inside: a Black Mesa tactical crossbow, pristine, glowing faintly. She blurts: Eirin: “What the hell…?” 「…… She lifts it. Weight too real. Cold steel. Modern design -- alien to Gensokyo. Inside the broken crate: a spray-painted Λ (Lambda) symbol. Eirin’s pupils tighten -- Source Engine-style close-up. She heads back inside, crossbow in hand.
Patrol Sequence - Bamboo Forest First-person sequence, flashlight cone, atmospheric fog. Eirin checks blind spots, area where humans often get lost, small pockets of distorted air. In the distance: faint orange glow between bamboo, flickering like hazard lights. Eirin murmurs. Eirin: “Who’s there?” 「…… She approaches cautiously. Through leaves, she sees a man collapsed against a tree. Orange glow = HEV suit emergency beacons reflecting on the grass. Suit voice faint: > “Seek medical attention.”
Next to him: an ID card, dirty but readable. ‘Gordon Freeman - Black Mesa Research Team’ Background music slowly rises into Joel Nielsen - Office Complex (Mesa Remix) just like the original Black Mesa intro reveals. Eirin’s eyes widen -- shock, disbelief, calculation. Eirin: “…!!!” 「…… A rustle. Tewi appears from behind the bushes. Tewi: “Eirin? What are you… HUH?!” She stares at Freeman. Tewi: “Why is a human here?! You brought him?!” Eirin shakes her head, lifts the crossbow. Eirin: “No. I saw the glow from afar. And… this was dropped at Eientei.” Tewi spots the crowbar beside Freeman. Tewi: “Whoa! He has this too! Who IS this guy…?” Camera slowly zooms on Freeman’s face. HEV suit flashes again. > “Seek medical attention.” Eirin’s voice trembles slightly: Eirin: “A crossbow… a crowbar… What does any of this even mean…?” Hard cut to black. “Loading...” text appears.
CHAPTER I Resonance Amplification
03:00 - Eientei, Clear Night Eientei’s courtyard is filled with low chatter—multiple factions gathered, their voices overlapping like static in a quiet facility. Inside, the camera drifts across a dim hallway. On a shelf, a crowbar and crossbow sit under moonlight.
Sakuya: “Cold… and heavier than it looks.” She rotates the crowbar slightly, metal ringing. Patchouli : “Don’t be deceived by its shape. That weapon carries a history… and it’s not a pleasant one.”
Sakuya’s eyes narrow -- monologue overlays. Sakuya (monologue): “A mortal carrying something like this… What kind of human lands in Gensokyo with a weight that shakes every faction?”
Hard cut → Recovery room. Freeman lies unconscious. Eirin steps back after completing medical checks. Reisen, Kaguya, Reimu, Keine, Yukari all present.
Eirin: “His suit defies every medical category I know. Recovery shouldn’t even be possible. Not for someone like him.” Reisen: “Gordon… Freeman? Black Mesa?” Keine: “His origin is nowhere in our history. This man isn’t from any world we recognize.” Reimu: “A crossbow dropped into Eientei without any spiritual trace? Great. That’s not worrying at all.” Yukari: “Nothing seems damaged. No boundary tear. And yet… his existence feels fundamentally incompatible.”
The door slides open slightly. Youmu: “Excuse us.” Yuyuko: “My, what a fascinating presence. Old… yet new.”
Reisen accidentally triggers the suit. Suit: “Initializing suit… OK.” Everyone turns sharply. Music cue: Joel Nielsen - Anomalous Materials Suit boot sequence plays with low reverb: “Initializing HEV Suit Systems...” “Vital Signs… OK.” “Jump Charge… OK.” “Exoskeleton Ready.” “Initialization Complete. Have a good day, Gordon Freeman.”
Eirin: “Reisen… I told you not to touch anything.” Reisen: “S-sorry!! I didn’t know! What is this thing??”
Freeman awakens – First-Person Perspective Blur → clarity. Suit: “Warning. Resonance energy detected. Signature incompatible. Source unidentified.” Camera moves from Yuyuko → Youmu → Yukari → Eirin.
Eirin: “Gordon Freeman.” He looks at her. Silent, steady. Eirin’s inner voice overlays softly. Eirin: “He carries something no human should. What happened to you…?”
Fade out. Title appears: Resonance Amplification Then one final line, Eirin: "You can reason with any mortal. But with him, not yet." “Loading...” text appears.
CHAPTER II Echoes From The Past
03:15 - Eientei, Clear Night Freeman sits upright, still dazed. Camera locks into a first-person Eirin POV, stepping closer.
Eirin: “Doctor… Freeman?” Freeman inspects his hands. Slow, calculating, like someone checking if reality still obeys physics. The others immediately react.
Patchouli: “That suit… no human could’ve built it. Its physiology adapts instantly to this world.” Sakuya: “Its energy signature is unlike anything I’ve seen. When I tried to stop him earlier… I felt it resisting me. Hard.” Youmu: “Reimu… can you really trust him? That suit’s voice alone gave me chills.” Reimu: “I don't know. But ignoring it won’t help either. Everything about him feels… wrong. But not evil.”
Kaguya: “We must be careful. Someone like him… isn’t handled by simple judgement.” Yukari: “His aura is shallow on the surface… but profoundly heavy underneath. He’s carrying something beyond our assumptions.” Yuyuko: “My spirit senses brushed against his. It’s faint… but connected. If he dies, something reacts.”
Reisen: “Freeman… don’t tell me, your world was destroyed too?” Freeman gives the faintest nod. Silence falls like gravity.
Keine: “That’s enough. You don’t need to explain the pain you carry. Rest first, Freeman.” But the moment she finishes--
Suit: “Warning. Unknown energy detected.” “Calibration failed. Reactive armor activated.” “Weapon systems online.” Freeman raises a hand: “shhh.” The whole room freezes. Camera cuts → outside Eientei.
Outside - Tewi & Mokou Tewi: “That suit sounds terrifying… but I don’t feel malice from him at all.” Mokou: “Right? And humans don’t wear things like tha—“ 「そうだよな? あんな装備、普通の人間が――」
A radio crackle tears the air. A thin fracture echoes across the Hakurei Barrier. Osprey rotors appear in the distance. Tewi’s ears snap upward. Radio: "Unknown sector. Orders?" "Proceed landing."
A rotten, distorted aura hits Tewi like a punch to the stomach. Tewi: “…what… is that?” 「……
Music cue: Joel Nielsen — We’ve Got Hostiles Tewi: “THERE! I heard a radio— three Ospreys!!” Mokou: “W–what!?” Vibrations shake the ground. Inside Eientei, everyone senses it simultaneously.
Reisen: “Someone’s trying to kill Freeman!” Yukari: “If they breach the barrier using that filth, we wipe them out.” Reimu: “I don’t care who they are! No one invades Gensokyo!!”
Freeman steps forward. Reisen tosses something, a crowbar arcs through the air in slow motion. He catches it with a practiced grip. Reisen: “Freeman, take this! And… I hope we can trust you.”
Combat begins – First Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode HEV suit humming. Your HUD glows orange. Freeman charges forward. Crowbar hits = 2–3 strikes → kill. (Youkai buff silently enhancing kinetic force.) Three youkai HECU fall.
Hard cut → Cinematic Mode CINEMATIC: Touhou extermination Sakuya “Three down.” Knives pierce through space-time.
Eirin: “You don’t belong here, except that scientist.” Arrows rained down on the youkai HECU.
Patchouli launches groundburst elemental ruptures. Youkai HECU are flung upward screaming. Youmu cuts down two marines in motion, clean, silent. Reisen melts three minds with red laser confusion. Only one youkai HECU remains, running.
Freeman intercepts. The marine looks up, terrified. Youkai HECU: “G-Gordon… Freeman?? H-how are you--“ 「ゴ、ゴードン……フリーマン!? な、なんでここに――」 CRACK. Crowbar to skull. Silence. Moonlight + fractured clouds overhead.
03:20 - Aftermath Eirin approaches slowly.
Eirin: "You okay?" Freeman’s glare at the corpse freezes her.
Eirin: “So… these are the ones hunting you. Worse than any enemy I’ve ever faced.” Yukari: “Do you think this place is your playground? Don’t push your luck.”
Freeman turns, stoic, silent, but the message is clear: “Do you think I wanted to come here?” Reimu restrains Yukari. Reimu: “Stop! If he wanted trouble, the Hakurei Barrier would've shattered already!”
Then, Freeman’s flashback. Black Mesa. Cascade. Corpses. Survival. The heroines feel it through resonance alone.
Reimu: “No way… that place… that’s not just hell. It’s hell inside hell.” 「
Eirin: “Your existence isn’t recorded anywhere, yet your pain echoes louder than history.” 「
Kaguya: “Escaping the moon wasn’t a mistake… but ignoring you would be.”
Patchouli “Not everyone survives pain like that, Freeman.” 「
Keine: “No one should bear that alone.” 「
Yukari “…Fine. If you need us, say something next time.” 「…… Youmu & Yuyuko stand quietly behind him.
Youmu: “So someone carries a burden heavier than mine…” Yuyuko “A human who crossed hell alive… that’s rare here.” Camera pulls back slowly. Eirin extends her hand, firm, respectful.
Eirin: “You’re not alone here, Freeman.” Freeman grips her hand. Metal-clench SFX echoes. Title appears: Echoes From the Past Fade to black. “Loading...” text appears.
CHAPTER III Calibration
06:00 - Eientei (First-Person Perspective, Cinematic Mode, Free Look Only) Ambient: Dawn breeze, quiet tatami reverb, light metallic hum from HEV suit.
Sakuya enters with tea tray “Relax, Doctor Freeman.” Freeman accepted the tea without hesitation, calmly. Eirin notices. “Doc, you don’t have to drink it that fast…”
Reisen comments. “Hee… at least he looks calmer now. Honestly, I’m still shaken from last night.” Youmu analyzes. “His movements… honest. No tension at all.” Reimu enters with snacks. “Here. Cookies. Just… eat. And don’t cause trouble this early.”
Tewi explodes with energy. “Finally! Chill time! FINALLY!!” Reisen grills her. “Tewi, you get tired even when you don’t do anything.” Tewi defends herself. “HELLO?? I guarded Eientei with Mokou! And the air was creepy as hell!”
Mokou joins. “Yeah, but at least it’s safe now. Those things chasing him… weaker than I expected.” Keine muses. “I’m still confused why they appeared so suddenly.”
Yukari drops a bomb. “But I’m more shocked that Freeman sensed the Hakurei barrier cracking. Only youkai, gods, or boundary manipulators can do that.” Patchouli processing. “And his suit absorbs this world’s energy… stabilizing it. That’s unusual.”
Eirin explains. “Yeah. Even though Reisen hit the wrong button yesterday, the suit adapted instantly.” 「
Yuyuko guesses. “So it acts like a spirit stabilizer~?” 「
Eirin confirms. “Exactly. If we understand this suit… we could recreate protection on his level.” 「
Kaguya tests him. “Freeman, when Yuyuko and Youmu released their spiritual aura… the suit reacted, right?” Freeman nods. Yuyuko & Youmu release spirit aura. HEV SUIT: “WARNING. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS DETECTED.”
Eirin celebrates. “Bingo. That’s the core mechanism.” Reisen shocked. “Seriously??? From just that!?”
Eirin continues. “Yes. In his era, the suit was designed for extreme chemical and energy exposure.” Patchouli correlates. “Makes sense… so that mean--” 「なるほど…ってことは—」 Eirin confirms the big one. “Yes. The suit can neutralize spellcards and youkai energy.”
Everyone freezes. “HA—————!?!” 「
Eirin reveals the naked lore (blushing hard). “…There’s one more issue. The HEV Mark IV requires full skin contact for the neural interface. Which means… he wears nothing underneath.” 「…
Collective meltdown. “…WHAT!?”
Eirin panics. “S-sorry!! I shouldn’t have said that in front of him!!” Freeman facepalms (no line).
Tewi whispers. “He’s so calm it’s scary…” 「
Kaguya comments soft. “That’s exactly why he survived that world.”
Camera slowly pulls back. Their yapping continues softly. Freeman just sips tea like nothing happened. Fade to black. Subline appears: “Even a broken world needs a moment to breathe.” Text fades out. “Loading...” text appears.
CHAPTER IV Crossing Dimension
09:00 - Eientei Bright morning, sun just cleared the horizon. Interior feels calm, but the conversation starts with quiet tension.
Eientei Living Room (Cinematic Third → FP) Sakuya crosses her arms, gaze fixed on Eirin. Sakuya: “So, Eirin… what’s your plan for Doctor Freeman now?” Eirin: “Hmm… all medical tools are ready. I’m thinking of guiding him, let him see more of Gensokyo firsthand.” Reisen: “Not a bad idea… but we can’t just let him roam freely yet. We may accept him—but other regions? Not guaranteed.”
Patchouli: “Exactly. Too many variables if he walks outside. Observing how others react will be… valuable.” Sakuya: “Anyway… it’s just four of us now. Everyone else already went home.” Eirin nods, turning to Freeman.
Eirin: “Doctor Freeman, mind checking the front area for a moment? Just wait outside for us.”
Transition to First-Person Control - Freeman POV Freeman walks to the sliding door. He opens it, not Gensokyo. Instead: Floating Xen stone. Amber glow. Anti-gravity dust drifting in slow motion. Distant hum, exactly like the old resonance field.
Freeman silently closes the door. Opens it again. Same Xen view. Third time, same result.
The others enter frame behind him Reisen: “Freeman… what are you doing? You were supposed to wait, not--play with the door?” 「
Freeman steps aside and gestures: look yourself. Eirin approaches cautiously. Eirin: “Huh…? What are you—“ 「え…? 何を…」
Door slides open. Silence. Breathing stops. A full Xen vista spills into the room, alien cliffs, bioluminescent fog, gravity ripples.
Eirin freezes. Eirin (shaken/annoyed): “Doctor Freeman. Explain. What world is this?”
Freeman doesn’t answer, only gives a faint gesture: this wasn’t me. Sakuya narrows her eyes, voice calm but blade-sharp. Sakuya: “…If that’s the case, then we follow you. No arguments.” 「…
Reisen: “Lead the way, doc. I can’t do anything here without you.” Patchouli closes her book and floats a little closer.
Patchouli: “We can still use our abilities—but survival probability without him is… low.” 「
Eirin taps Freeman’s shoulder. Eirin: “No dying today. Understood?” Freeman gives a slight nod.
Sakuya: “We’ll handle the creatures. You lead.” 「
They step into Xen - First-Person Wide Shot The cave exit opens into massive floating islands. Blue fog. Organic arches. The iconic “heartbeat” hum of Xen.
Music starts: Joel Nielsen – Transcendent. Freeman lifts his hand slightly, pointing to a high structure, the teleport core. Dialogue atop the vista.
Eirin (soft): “Doctor Freeman… are these your deepest scars?” 「
Eirin: “No answer needed. I get it. You carried this alone… and now we stand here as witnesses.” 「
Sakuya (gentle): “(faint smile) The more I learn about him… the more I understand why Remilia sent me and Patchouli.”
Reisen: "I don’t feel trauma from this place… but if we slip up once, we’re dead. He’s the key." The camera tilts up toward the teleport chamber. The music swells. Fade to black.
Final Transition Text Subject: Gordon Freeman Observer: Yagokoro Eirin, Izayoi Sakuya, Patchouli Knowledge, Reisen Udongein Inaba Status: Leaving Gensokyo — Observation in Progress…
CHAPTER V Combined Divergence
Xen - Unknown Time Music cue: ambient low hum + distant resonance thumps [Scene Start — Wide Cinematic → FP] The Xen air shimmers,a combination of vacuum chill, low gravity sway, and leftover resonance scars from Freeman’s past. Eirin, Sakuya, Patchouli, and Reisen follow behind him, every step echoing on the biomechanical ground. Creatures are absent; only the remains of old Black Mesa expeditions linger.
Climb to the Broken Platform Sakuya climbs the rusted ladder behind Freeman. Sakuya: “Damn… even my own energy feels locked here.”
Patchouli “I warned you, spellcasting works, but everything has a cost here. That might be one of them.” Eirin: “I see… looks like we’re getting close.” Reisen: “Yeah. But I’m curious... what exactly is left in this place?”
[Cinematic FP — The Small Portal – Trigger 1st True Ending Key] They arrive at the edge: a massive gap, impossible to cross—except for the tiny pulsing Xen portal floating mid-air.
Eirin: “Seriously? We’re this close, and the path is like this?” Sakuya (looks down, heartbeat quiet but steady) “Hm. Looks like our route ends here.”
Patchouli “There must be another way. I can feel spatial distortion... something akin to teleportation.” Reisen: “Doctor Freeman… can this bridge the gap? There’s another one glowing on the far side.” Freeman nods once.
Freeman tests the portal He steps in. Instant relocation. Middle platform.
Reisen: “Whoa—! It works!” She jumps in right after.
Eirin: “Heh… just like Yukari’s gaps.” Sakuya: “No time to waste.” Everyone else follows through.
[Cinematic — The Deep Xen Abyss] They stop at the edge of a colossal void, an endless, shifting Xen pit. Patchouli closes one eye to measure trajectories.
Patchouli: “…The energy here is distorted. Even I can’t predict momentum in this gravity.” 「… Sakuya lowers her gaze, calm mask cracking slightly. Sakuya: “One small mistake… and we fall forever.”
Freeman activates the Xen Jumper. A biomechanical jumper pulses, alive, breathing. Freeman approaches, presses the organic core—
CHRRRKKK—THUMP—FFWOOM A violent launch. He glides, lands perfectly across. Sakuya freezes.
Patchouli whispers. Patchouli: “…He’s done this hundreds of times.” 「… Freeman gestures: your turn.
Sakuya Jump Sequence (Trigger 2nd True Ending Key) She breathes deeply. Freeman returns and extends a hand. Sakuya: “If I fall… you’re jumping with me, right?” Freeman nods without hesitation.
They jump. CHH-THUMPP—FWOOOM! Sakuya is launched too fast. Sakuya: “Too fast—!” 「
Freeman stabilizes her midair, and they land clean. Sakuya: “…Okay. Definitely not my most elegant moment.” 「…
Reisen’s Jump Reisen stares at the jumper, shaking. Reisen: “Screw it— I’m doing it!” She screams midair but lands safely. Eirin & Patchouli Jump
Eirin grabs Patchouli’s hand for a moment. Eirin: “If we fall… at least we fall together.” Patchouli replies. Patchouli: “Trust him. This world obeys him, not us.” They jump, land with heavy thuds, but stable.
Sakuya remarks Sakuya: “Next time, doctor… warn us before doing something insane.” Freeman lowers his head slightly—an apology without words.
[Trigger — Patchouli 3rd True Ending Key] Inside the old teleport chamber. Black Mesa scrap. Cables. Burned-out relays. Xen crystals fused with human tech.
Patchouli finds scattered research logs and a damaged binder. Freeman approaches (player-triggered). She taps the worn cover.
Patchouli: “Oh, doctor… these two books are interesting. Hard to read, but they’re tied to your old world, right?” Freeman nods.
Patchouli: “Then I’ll take them. (picks up the Black Mesa log) If you have time, come to Scarlet Devil Mansion. Help me decipher these.” She softens, rare.
Patchouli: “Even with wounds this deep… you still share your story with us, huh?” 「
[Final Xen Room — The Eientei Door] They reach the door identical to Eientei’s. Everyone stops.
Eirin: “This door… it’s exactly like mine.” Reisen: “So this whole place is… another dimension copy?” Sakuya: “We’ll talk later. Inside. Now.”
Freeman slides the door open. Inside: perfect replica of Eientei’s room. On the table, a small memo: “Turn off the lamp.”
Eirin exhales. Eirin: “…Turn it off, then. Let’s go home.” 「…
Freeman switches off the lamp. Everyone sits. Silence. Weight of Xen pressing against their hearts.
Monologue Sequence (FP slow zoom) Eirin “This place… I shouldn’t be here. But if it holds his trauma… then I understand his isolation.” Sakuya “When he pulled me across that gap… I thought he was reckless. Turns out he had perfect timing. He’s fought fear more times than we can imagine.” Patchouli “This file… I’ll keep it safe. Maybe Marisa will want to read this someday.” Reisen “The Lunarian war was harsh… but nothing like this. He keeps moving, even if it costs his life. That’s beyond human instinct.” Fade to black. Audio slowly transitions from Xen resonance → Gensokyo ambience.

CHAPTER VI The Equalizer (Last Reisen’s True Ending Key)
14:00 - Eientei [CAMERA: Close-up on Freeman. HUD flickers back online.] Reisen: “Freeman…! Freeman, wake up!” Freeman’s eyes open. The room shakes with distant explosions.
Reisen (panicked, breath unsteady): “Gensokyo, Youkai HECU are pushing a full-scale retaliation! This time they’re all-in, doc!” Eirin: “I can't believe it... I just got back from Xen. Hurry, Doctor.” Keine: “This is worse than the previous incursion, isn’t it?” Freeman pushes himself up.
Eirin steps in, holding a weapon wrapped in cloth. She unwraps it — the Tau Cannon glows faintly. Eirin: “I’m pretty sure you know this one.” Freeman’s eyes sharpen. A silent recognition. Eirin (firm, no hesitation): “I don’t have time to analyze this. I’m going with Kaguya. Keine will back up Mokou. You, go with Reisen.”
Freeman pats Reisen’s shoulder. Reisen: (small gasp) 「… “Ah… I get it, doc. You don’t want me watching you turn into a killing machine again, right? Don’t worry. I’ve already accepted my fate a long time ago.” She smiles softly, bittersweet, but resolved. Eirin and Keine exchange a proud, stern nod. CUT TO BLACK
[14:20 - Gensokyo City Battlefield] Music: Joel Nielsen - Surface Tension 2 Screams. Gunfire. Spell-card detonations. Dust clouds.
Reimu (shouting mid-combat): “Tch—they’re tougher than before!” Sakuya, Patchouli, Youmu, Alice, Tewi fight in formation, barely holding the line. Sakuya: “How long until Reisen gets here?!” Patchouli: “Their numbers are… unreasonable.” Youmu: “Freeman was right. They won’t stop.”
[Reisen & Freeman Arrival] Reisen’s ears twitch, threat inbound. She raises her gun, Freeman grabs her wrist. Reisen: “Huh?! What is it, doc?!” 「
Freeman steps forward. Player control starts. Tau Cannon hum grows louder , arcs of electricity dance across the coils. Reisen (realizing, stepping back): “Oh, got it. I can’t control that thing anyway. Do it, doc!” The charge spikes. Orange energy spikes into a near-overload.
Freeman fires. A beam tears across the battlefield, bouncing, refracting, annihilating several Youkai HECU instantly. Youkai HECU (off-screen): “What the fu--” 「なっ…!?」 Youmu (shocked to her core): “That… wasn’t a spell card. They’re just...gone.”
Sakuya, Patchouli, Tewi can’t speak. Their bodies freeze. Reisen catches Freeman before the recoil throws him. Reisen: “Shit! Doc, I can’t keep holding you if you fire like that!” Freeman stares at her, serious, determined. Reisen (softening, realizing): “Right… you don’t want your people dying.” 「……
[SECOND CHARGE - WHITE BEAM] Tau Cannon glows white, unstable, lightning crackles around the frame. Cut to Eirin, Kaguya, Yukari, Yuyuko watching from afar. Eirin (low, impressed): “So that’s why I postponed analyzing it… dimensional tearing is real.” 「…
Yukari: “If that beam hits the Hakurei Barrier… Gensokyo won’t collapse. It’ll adapt. To him.” Kaguya: “Maybe leaving the Moon was worth it after all…” Yuyuko (smiling gently): “Ara~ you really are different, Gordon Freeman.”
[TRUE ENDING TRIGGER - HP > 30%] Freeman fires the full-charge white beam. The screen flashes, the entire front line evaporates. HEV Suit: “Warning. Vital signs critical. Seek medical attention. Morphine administered.”
Reisen grabs him tightly. Reisen: “Freeman! Stay with me!” Freeman gestures: I’m okay.
Reisen (angry + scared): “Don’t ‘I’m fine’ me!! We’re going back to Eientei, NOW!” They walk, slowly, through the ruined battlefield. Eirin (relieved, proud, shaken): “Of course… everything has a price. And he paid it without hesitation.” 「… Fade to black.
[BAD END - HP < 30%] Reisen Collapse Ending Screen doesn’t fade, It breaks.
When Freeman collapses, Reisen: “F…Freeman…? Hey… hey—?” (voice trembling, disbelief) “No… no no no… stand up… please…!”
(HEV Suit glitch intensifies) Reisen: “NO!! DON’T!! DOCTOR!!” (panic spikes)
(Freeman fully ragdolls) Reisen: “FREEMAN!! ANSWER ME!!” (voice cracks HARD) Reisen: “HEY!! DON’T LEAVE ME BEHIND!!!” (Hysterical)
Reality begins collapsing, Her breathing goes unstable, almost hyperventilating. Reisen: “No… no no no… I don’t want this… I don’t want this!!” “Please… come back… I’m begging you…!!”
HEV warning corrupts. Suit: “Vital… zztt—signs—critical…” Her voice overlaps, screaming to drown the glitch out: Reisen: “Can you hear me!? SAY YOU’RE ALIVE!!” 「
When the temporal overload triggers, Visual burns white. Reisen realizes what’s happening. She breaks. Reisen: (A long, primal scream) 「…… (raw terror — reverb, cracking, ugly, human)
Reisen: “Freeman!! Come back!! COME BACK!!” (voice shattering mid-scream)
As her voice distorts with the world, Reisen: “Please… don’t disappear… DON’T DISAPPEAR!!” (half glitch, half cry)
Final distorted scream before full whiteout. Reisen: “DOCTOR—!! No… NO…!!” (voice fading violently into static)
Silence. SUBJECT: GORDON FREEMAN STATUS: DECEASED CAUSE: Temporal Overload via Tau Cannon (Critical Vital Level) RESULT: Timeline Destabilization Detected NOTES: Subject attempted to create paradox within Gensokyo. Fade to white.
CHAPTER VII Fate Breaker (True Ending) Requires all 4 True Ending Keys
[19:00 - Eientei, Recovery Hall] Soft medical hum, quiet wind outside, distant Eientei wood floor creaks. First-person from Freeman, eyes still closed. Echoed voices.
VOICES BEFORE FREEMAN WAKES Eirin (exhausted, half-whisper): “He’s stabilizing… thank god. I didn’t expect healing him would push me this far.” Reisen: “Heeeh, isn’t that already your specialty, Eirin?” Eirin: “Not like this. Even Kaguya had nothing to say after what happened.”
Sakuya: “After seeing Xen with my own eyes… I’m just glad someone like him existed to pull us out alive.” Patchouli: “And after reading some of those Black Mesa archives… it’s clearer now. His era was far beyond ours—yet he carried its weight alone.” Kaguya (soft laugh): “Hehehe… Eirin, you’re not planning to turn him into your next experiment, are you?”
Eirin (annoyed gasp): “Eh!? Why would I?! He literally dragged us out of Xen alive!” Kaguya: “Relax. I know. It’s just… someone with resolve that overwhelming… it’s rare even for us.”
[Freeman opens his eyes] Camera fade-in: Eirin, Sakuya, Patchouli, Reisen, Kaguya, and Tewi stand around him. Tewi: “Ah! Doctor Freeman! Finally awake! Guess your luck hasn’t ditched you yet.” Freeman looks around… then notices blood on Eirin’s wrist.
Eirin (catching his glance): “Ah, don’t worry about this. I finally found a way to patch the damage inside your suit. (sigh) That Hazardous Environment Suit… powerful, sure, but absolute hell to fix.” Reisen: “Heh, worth it though. Compared to what he saved us from.” Sakuya: “Self-healing, adaptive resistance, structural monitoring… Gensokyo has equivalents. But for a human? It’s absurd. And yet, he made it work.”
Patchouli: “And that’s why the suit responded to Gensokyo's energy. Only someone with his resolve could sync with it.” Eirin: “Oh right… one more thing. That weapon—the Tau Cannon—Yukari has secured it. I couldn’t keep it here.” Eirin (serious tone): “Reimu is still guarding the battlefield. The dimensional tear you caused… it’s still there. No enemy has returned since.”
Eirin (locking eyes with Freeman): “You know the cost of living here after that, don’t you?” 「… Freeman nods slowly.
Reisen steps forward, defending him instinctively. Reisen: “You don’t need to pressure him, Eirin. He already accepted everything without being asked. If he hadn’t acted… we’d all be dead. Sakuya, Patchouli… even me.” Eirin (quiet): “…Yeah. I hate admitting it.” 「……
Music fades in - Joel Nielsen: Limitless Potential Freeman reaches out and pats Eirin’s shoulder. Eirin (soft, relieved smile): (a quiet, warm exhale) 「…… Sakuya (offering a small plate): “Doctor Freeman. Here—have something to eat.”
Reisen (teasing): “Heh, after everything, he still looks so damn unfazed.” Tewi: “Not unfazed, just his way of fighting back. And this time… he’s not alone.” Kaguya: “Gensokyo won’t forget what you’ve done here, Freeman. Don’t hesitate to learn about us.” They all sit together, sharing a warm dinner despite the heavy memories. Their expressions soften, silently promising to face whatever comes next together.
[Outside Eientei - Reimu & Yukari] Reimu: “So… what about the battlefield?” Yukari (sharp tone, then softens): “Leave it. I’m not interfering with Gordon Freeman again. I widened the boundary to hold back that invasion… but he brought a weapon that shouldn't exist in this world.” Yukari: “Anyone who fights that hard… shouldn’t die here.” Reimu: “Glad you adjusted your plan.” Yukari: “It had to be done. A human that strong is an asset to all of us.” Camera slowly pans up to the night sky, calm after the war. Fade to black.
Final Text SUBJECT: GORDON FREEMAN OBSERVER: YAKOGORO EIRIN, IZAYOI SAKUYA, PATCHOULI KNOWLEDGE, REISEN UDONGEIN INABA STATUS: OBSERVATION AND EVALUATION — SUCCESSFUL POST-MORTEM: Subject created a stable divergence link within Gensokyo. Permanent dimensional integration confirmed.

Lambda Core: Gensokyo II

Prologue - Sacred Tree 30 Days later...
Black. A faint wind. A heartbeat, steady, slow, like someone recovering from a major temporal collapse. A pale cyan mist forms. Hakugyokurou atmosphere. A silhouette materializes… Yuyuko. Her form is soft, layered like a Source Engine volumetric ghost, edges flickering like a bad portal stabilization. Camera stays slightly blurred, depth-of-field breathing in and out. She speaks slowly, voice dipped in echo, not spooky, but ancient.
Yuyuko: “Ara… Gordon Freeman. Or should I call you… Doctor Freeman? Even though you’re just a mortal, the footprint you left on Gensokyo… is bigger than anything even the gods could predict.”
Yuyuko: “You arrived carrying wounds. Carrying war. Carrying anomalies. …But you also carried hope.” 「
Yuyuko steps closer. Camera subtly pulled toward her, like mild G-Man draw-in. Her eyes glow faintly, not threatening, but omniscient.
Yuyuko: “In this land, life and death are just a cycle. But you… you threw that logic out the window.” 「
She gives a soft, knowing smile, the kind that says: I know something you don’t… and you’re not ready for it.
Yuyuko: “Find your purpose here, Doctor Freeman. Whoever understands your burden… will protect you, no matter the cost.” Yuyuko’s form disintegrates, not fading like a ghost, but glitching like a collapsing portal. Cut to black.
FIRST-PERSON PERSPECTIVE - WAKE UP SEQUENCE A soft HEV monitor pulse fills the ears. HUD error → stabilizes. HEV Suit: “Vitals Signs stable.” “Hydration levels stable.” Freeman opens his eyes. The blur sharpens… revealing Eirin’s face, leaning slightly, eyes tired but relieved.
Eirin: “Ah… good. He’s awake.” 「…
Freeman slowly pushes himself upright. The camera adjusts height realistically, Source Engine FPP style. He sees a low traditional table. Around it: - Yuyuko - Youmu - Sakuya - Patchouli - Reisen - Eirin They all sit quietly. Not tense… but waiting for something.
The atmosphere is thick, the kind that says: “This man changed everything in 30 days.” Soft white Hakugyokurou light shines through the window like a giant softbox. The camera tilts up slightly…
Title card appears. “Sacred Tree” White flash → subtle bloom → fade to black.
CHAPTER I Barrier Observation
14:00 - Hakugyokurou Interior – Clear Sunny Ambient: Netherworld hush. Soft cyan reverb. Slight chill in the air. Camera: third-person cinematic → slow drift back into semi-first-person seated POV.
Eirin stands at the low table, Xen blueprints and HEV Suit photographs spread neatly across the surface. Soft Netherworld light spills through the sliding door, giving the papers a pale bluish glow. She raises a small pointer in her hand.
Eirin’s Briefing 1) Reactive Armor Compatibility Eirin: “Alright, Doctor Freeman. Three things about your suit. I won’t make it formal — just the essentials.” She taps the blueprint. Eirin: “First: reactive armor compatibility. The material of your suit… its energy spectrum nearly matches the protective fields here in Gensokyo, especially Netherworld-class signatures. Same range as Yuyuko’s, mine, even Kaguya’s.” Patchouli flips through pages, brows furrowed. Patchouli: “Modern human tech shouldn’t be able to sync with nether energy. But this suit… it does.”
2) Defense Behavior Eirin shifts to a second board showing impact readings. Eirin: “Second: defense behavior. Your suit absorbs non-physical attacks far better than physical ones. Spellcards, beams, shockwaves — they’re softened.” She glances at Yuyuko and Youmu. Eirin: “But spiritual attacks? Those pass through cleanly. They won’t break the suit, but they’ll hit you.” Youmu crosses her arms. Youmu: “So it’s not just machinery. Something else is binding it to another realm.” Yuyuko, still eating dango, watches Freeman with a warm mischief. Yuyuko: “Fufufu~ with the spirit stabilizer I added, the suit won’t shatter easily. So make sure he doesn’t die, okay?” Freeman quietly checks his glove, subtle movement, Source Engine FPP style.
3) Reinforcement Source Eirin points to resonance graphs. Eirin: “Third: reinforcement. Your suit can be refueled by only two reliable locations: — Eientei — Netherworld Those two places resonate closest to your armor’s dimensional structure.” Sakuya folds her arms elegantly. Sakuya: “So it truly isn’t meant for an ordinary human.” 「…… Eirin simply nods.
Group Reaction Camera pulls back. Youmu and Patchouli exchange a quiet, knowing glance.
Patchouli closes the Xen logbook. Patchouli: “Freeman. The archive I found in Xen… probably contains old Black Mesa data. I’ll need time to decipher it.” Freeman nods, calm.
Sakuya stands smoothly. Sakuya: “If you intend to go, we’ll accompany you.”
Reisen sips tea, eyes narrowed playfully. Reisen: “I’m staying here to help Eirin and Yuyuko monitor the barrier. Sakuya and Patche will escort you… but watch out for the Scarlet Sisters, okay? Different world, different appetite.”
First Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode Freeman stands. Sakuya and Patchouli rise at the same time — natural party formation.
Youmu steps forward a little. Youmu: “Be careful out there, Doctor Freeman. Your path… is far from over.” Freeman glances at the sliding door. Ambient shifts: deeper echo, wide space, Source ambience style.
Fade to black. Last voice, distant, carried by wind: “If another world rejected your existence… maybe this one is your last chance.” 「
CHAPTER III Scarlet Intervention
16:00 - Scarlet Devil Mansion BGM: Joel Nielsen - Catalyst First Person Perspective - Gameplay Mode
Marble floor. Dim crimson light. HEV HUD faint. HEV Suit: “Power: 95%.” Meiling greets the group. Meiling: “Ah—Sakuya! Patchouli! Long time no see! And this person… Gordon Freeman?”
Camera shifts to Remilia under chandelier. Elegant. Cold. Eyes like a predator assessing prey. Remilia: “So this is the human who walked through a dead world.” 「……
Sakuya defends Freeman. Sakuya: “He at least had the decency to visit. He helped us survive Xen.” 「
Patchouli briefing. Patchouli: “We brought the Black Mesa log. He’s assisting with the decryption.” 「
Remilia rises — soft heel echo. Remilia: “You are the human Eirin praised. If you break anything in my mansion… you will not walk out.”
Freeman’s answer is silence. One controlled nod. Remilia: “…Hmph. Good. You understand.” 「……
Cut To: SDM Library - 17:00 Warm crimson lighting. Dust particles. Silence thick like velvet.
Patchouli opens the Black Mesa Log. Patchouli discovers the key term. Patchouli: “…Containment… Resonance Cascade?” 「……
Sakuya brings tea but stops, sensing tension. Sakuya: “Inside Xen, it felt like a laboratory scar. A wound that never healed.” 「
Patchouli flips another page. She pauses, hands subtly trembling. Patchouli: “This data matches the distortions around the Hakurei Barrier.” 「
Patchouli questions Freeman. Patchouli (soft, curious): “Freeman… why did you come here?”
Freeman answers with silence again. Camera focuses on his eyes, survivor fatigue.
Sakuya interprets for him. Sakuya (reading him): “He doesn’t need to answer. If he stops moving, he’ll break.” 「
Patchouli closes the log gently. Patchouli: “You can stay here, if you want. Knowledge shared is strength.” 「
Sakuya offers tea, quiet, domestic gesture. Sakuya: “Drink. You need it.” …… Freeman accepts.
Montage — Time passes Light dims → page turns → faint thunder outside. Patchouli: “Your suit can interact with Gensokyo’s energy. That makes you a walking anomaly.” Sakuya: “And a target.”
Remilia’s whisper fills the hall, not present, just voice. Camera drifts down a dim corridor. Remilia (velvet menace): “You brought the abyss into my home… How fascinating.” Fade out to black.
CHAPTER IV Rendezvous Memory
17:00 - Scarlet Devil Mansion Library Atmosphere: low magical hum, candle crackle, faint HEV suit servos. Third-person intro → slow transition into first-person Freeman POV.
Patchouli sits beside Freeman; the Black Mesa logbook rests on the table between them. Sakuya approaches the doorway. Sakuya leaves.
Sakuya: “Patchouli, I’ll go get some drinks.” 「
Patchouli nods calmly. The door slides shut. Silence takes over. Camera shifts into first-person Freeman, hands resting near the suit interface. Patchouli opens the logbook slightly, then stops. She stares at the closed cover a moment—thinking.
Patchouli speaks. Patchouli: “I don’t want this information to stay between just the two of us. The risks are too high.” Freeman nods once.
Patchouli: “About Remilia… Her reaction to you wasn’t normal. Usually, humans don’t survive provoking her presence.” “But when she looked at you… she sensed something. Something larger than fate itself.”
Sakuya returns. Door opens. Freeman instinctively shifts his gaze, suit servos click. Sakuya: “Here you go.”
Sakuya places the tea, then notices the book hasn’t been opened. Sakuya: “I thought you already started decrypting it.”
Patchouli looks at Sakuya, tone quiet but precise. Patchouli: “You want to know what’s inside too, don’t you? And you’re no longer just a companion to Freeman.”
Sakuya halts, cheeks slightly warming. Sakuya: “…Fine. Yes. I’m curious.” 「…
Patchouli opens the logbook. Pages turn. Blueprints of Black Mesa interior appear—clinical, alien, and precise.
Patchouli: “Interesting… This facility is far more complex than I expected.” “It resembles the structure we saw in Xen… but this is clearly just one half of it.”
Patchouli flips another page. Red-highlighted terms jump out under candlelight: CONTAINMENT MATERIAL HAZARD ENVIRONMENT ENERGY STABILIZER
Sakuya’s heartbeat quickens — audible inhale. Sakuya: “Why… does reading those words make my heart race…?” 「
Patchouli flips again. The next line freezes her expression: Subject test failure — Resonance Cascade occurred.
Camera tightens. Music cue: Joel Nielsen - Surface Tension 4
Patchouli: “…No. This can’t be a coincidence.” 「… Sakuya reads the line again; her eyes tremble. Sakuya: “It feels… exactly like the Hakurei Barrier collapsing…”
Patchouli’s realization. Patchouli: “If this event repeats in Gensokyo… we are one step away from a Cascade.” “No one would be safe. Not even Freeman.” “And the worst case… is the war Yukari has feared all along.” Sakuya exhales sharply.
Sakuya’s intuition Sakuya: “Remilia reacted strongly to Freeman earlier… She knew something was coming.” 「
Freeman nods, confirming. Patchouli turns sharply. Patchouli: “Doctor—how did you know that?”
Freeman gestures simply. Sakuya answers for him: “Eirin was the one who found him. That alone proves the situation is beyond us.”
Closing statements Patchouli closes the logbook — the sound echoes. Patchouli: “…I thought we finally had a moment to breathe. But the storm hasn’t even started.” 「… She looks to Freeman. Patchouli: “Freeman… will you stay here for now, or move on?”
Freeman chooses to stay. Sakuya softens. Sakuya: “Good choice. You’ll need time to get used to the mansion.” 「
Patchouli steps toward the door. Patchouli: “Thank you for sharing this, Doctor. If the factions knew this truth… their pride wouldn’t matter anymore.” The door closes softly.
Ending Monologue — Patchouli (V.O.) Candlelight flickers, books and shadows blur. “I know too much now… But Gordon Freeman keeps walking forward. He’s lived through a Cascade once— and he understands what comes after.” Fade to black.
CHAPTER V Immobilizer Conceptual — Part I
21:00 — Scarlet Devil Mansion Library Music: Joel Nielsen – Black Mesa Theme (Mesa Remix)
The scene opens in first-person. Freeman’s hands rest on the open pages of the Black Mesa archive log. The library is almost silent — just the faint magical airflow and the soft shifting of old paper.
A quiet knock breaks the ambience. Freeman lifts his head. The FP camera tilts slightly — that subtle Source-Engine “body tension” sway. The door slides open.
Flandre steps inside… softly, almost floating. The chandelier light fractures across her crystal wings. Her expression is gentle — too gentle for someone with her destructive pedigree. She hesitates, then speaks.
Flandre: “Umm… G-Gordon Freeman?” Freeman stays silent.
The camera holds on Flandre’s face for a few seconds. The ambience drops — HEV sensors kicking in. Flandre steps closer, trying to act braver than she feels.
Flandre: “Why aren’t you with Patchouli? Or Sakuya? They’re in the ballroom… talking about you, actually.” 「
She moves closer. The moment she enters a specific radius, the HEV reacts. HEV SUIT: “WARNING. Hazardous radiation levels detected.” The HUD flickers. Orange LED → rapid pulse. Then… slowly stabilizes as the suit calibrates itself to her conceptual energy. Flandre giggles softly.
Flandre “Hehe… your suit is funny. It talks a lot.” 「
A subtle interaction prompt appears in Freeman’s HUD: [Hold E — Reach out] If chosen, Freeman gently takes Flandre’s hand. The FPV shows the suit LEDs shifting — not danger, but recognition. “Unstable conceptual energy source calibrated.” Flandre looks at their hands, then at him. She doesn’t pull away.
Cinematic cutaway — still keeping Freeman in FPV but with the background in focus. At the far side of the library, three silhouettes watch: - Remilia - Patchouli - Sakuya Not approaching — just observing. Remilia speaks first, voice low, aristocratic, almost disbelieving.
Remilia: “So the suit truly reacts to Flan… I never thought I’d see this.” Patchouli adjusts her glasses slightly, whispering back. Patchouli: “Eirin predicted this long before we arrived.”
Sakuya crosses her arms, eyes locked on Freeman. Sakuya: “He’s synchronizing too quickly with this world… that’s both dangerous and an opportunity.” 「
Hard cut to black. A faint reverb of the library ambience lingers… then silence.
CHAPTER VI Immobilizer Conceptual — Part II
00:00 — Scarlet Devil Mansion Main Hall Music: Joel Nielsen – Resonance First-person Perspective.
Freeman stands at the center of the hall. Moonlight pours through the stained glass windows — blue, red, violet shards across the floor. The air feels colder than before. Heavy. Predictive. The HEV suit hums as if bracing for an unseen force. HEV Suit (soft): “Unknown energy source detected. Stabilizing power.”
Camera shifts as Sakuya approaches, arms folded lightly. Sakuya: “Imperishable Night… the atmosphere hits different tonight.” 「
Remilia stands beneath the chandelier, looking down at Freeman like she’s reading a fate line he’s not aware of yet. Remilia: “Hmph… Nights like this are supposed to be beautiful chaos. But ever since you arrived… destiny feels like it’s trying to rewrite itself.”
Freeman’s fist tightens — subtle servo noise. HUD flashes: HEV SUIT: “Adrenaline administered.” Sakuya reacts instantly, gaze sharp. Sakuya: “Freeman… you don’t have to push yourself that hard. We know you're feeling something—we just… don’t understand all of it.”
Freeman steps back, then turns away. Not angry. Not cold. Just… uncomfortable. Internal pressure with no words to explain.
Sakuya steps forward, voice firmer. Sakuya: “Freeman? Where are you going?” Freeman keeps walking. Cut to black brief → then FPV resumes outside SDM.
Outside the Mansion - First-Person Perspective Meiling, guarding the gate, tilts her head with a gentle smile.
Meiling: “Oh? Heading out alone? Need some air?” The suit shifts into mobility mode. HEV SUIT: “Initializing jump module… OK.” “Exoskeleton engaged.” “Adrenaline boost active.”
Freeman takes a few forced steps forward — then full movement control returns. He sprints. Bunny-hops. Heavy footfalls, responsive inertia — pure Black Mesa/Source movement language. From afar, Sakuya watches from the doorway, whispering under her breath:
Sakuya: “…He’s carrying everything alone… just to keep adapting.” 「……
Camera shifts — Eirin is visible in the distance, half-shadowed among bamboo, observing quietly. Eirin: “Good… the resonance is increasing. The HEV is unlocking new parameters. How valuable…”
Up above, Remilia appears on a balcony, arms resting on the stone railing. Remilia: “A mere human shouldn’t be able to resist a fate this heavy… but you’re not a mere human, are you?”
Freeman reaches the outer gate. HEV Suit: “Calibration completed.” Sakuya quietly fades into view at the right side of the screen — half silhouette.
Sakuya: “If that’s the path you choose… then I’ll follow it.” Hard cut to black. Ambience lingers like a low-frequency pressure wave.
CHAPTER VII Divided Path — Part I
00:30 — Front Gate, Scarlet Devil Mansion First-Person Perspective Freeman returns to the gate accompanied by Meiling and Sakuya. Moonlight cuts across the stone path, trees shifting silhouettes like slow heartbeat pulses. Sakuya nods toward the library wing with calm precision.
Sakuya: “Freeman, head back to Patchouli’s library. We’ll prepare some tea and snacks.” 「
Freeman steps toward the carved wooden library door. Inside, faint whispers can be heard, Patchouli… and Flandre. The HEV suit dims its lights, detecting emotional tension. Player receives TWO options (silent, not visible at Player’s HUD): 1. Enter the Library → Normal Route 2. Turn Away and Leave → Trigger Divided Path
PLAYER SELECTS: Turn Away Freeman slowly turns his back to the library. Camera trembles slightly, the suit shifting movement protocols. HEV Suit: “Stealth mode engaged.” A soft suppressor-like hum envelopes the HUD. Movement becomes quieter, heavier, precise, classic stealth locomotion. Freeman exits the mansion grounds and heads toward the forest. Fog rolls low to the ground, and the soundscape shifts to distant cicadas and damp stone. He walks toward the Hakurei Shrine. All interior areas except the objective are locked, a forced stealth corridor disguised as free-roam.
At the Shrine Shinto lanterns flicker as the HEV suit detects something. HEV Suit: “Tau Cannon signature detected.” A stealth meter appears on the HUD, reminiscent of Opposing Force hostile detection.
Reimu is asleep in the adjacent room. Footsteps must be slow. Freeman carefully slides open the right-side door. Inside: the Tau Cannon rests on a mat, pulsing faint teal from dimensional residue.
HEV LEDs flicker rapidly, signal confirmation. Freeman kneels and picks up the Tau Cannon silently. No dialogue. No breathing. No unnecessary animation. He backs away. Closes the door with deliberate slow camera motion.
00:45 — Return to Scarlet Devil Mansion Cinematic Mode Sakuya opens the library door — fast, tense, expecting him inside. Sakuya: “…Freeman?” 「……
Patchouli doesn’t flinch. She turns one page calmly. Patchouli: “He never came in.”
Flandre tilts her head, amused, eyes glowing faintly. Flandre: “Hehe~ He went far, didn’t he?”
Sakuya clenches her jaw for a moment. Sakuya: “Damn it… he slipped out without any of us noticing. Remilia must hear about this.”
Cut to Ballroom, Remilia standing centered among red glass reflections. Remilia: “WHAT?! He left the mansion?!” 「
Meiling tries to lighten the situation, but it fails. Meiling: “It’s not like he hates you…”
Remilia’s pride cracks underneath. Her voice lowers, brittle, quiet. Remilia: “If he moves alone… it means he doesn’t fully trust us.”
Patchouli stands behind them near the shadows. She doesn’t speak. Her pupils dim, realization hitting deeper than the others. Cut to black.
WHAT IF — Freeman Chooses to Enter the Library Instead Subject: Gordon Freeman Status: Evaluation & Observation Terminated Post-Mortem: Subject engaged with Scarlet Devil Mansion anomaly without synchronization protocol. Result: Boundary cascade triggered. Hakurei Barrier: Irreversibly compromised.
CHAPTER VIII Divided Path — Part II
11:00 — Eientei, Interior Common Room Music: Joel Nielsen — Office Complex (Mesa Remix, low room-tone mix)
Fade-in from black. Camera is first-person Sakuya — breathing slightly uneven, footsteps fast but controlled. She slides open the wooden door with a tense push. Light spills into the room.
Eirin looks up from her notes — controlled expression, but sharp. Sakuya: “Eirin… Freeman is gone.” Sakuya steps forward. Camera cuts to a three-shot: Eirin, Patchouli, Reisen. Eirin’s brow tightens — subtle but telling.
Eirin: “…Gone? As in—no spiritual trace at all?” 「……
Patchouli closes her book softly, exhaling through her nose. Patchouli: “He disappeared the instant the synchronization field destabilized. I felt the break too.”
Reisen’s ears twitch — trying not to panic, arms crossed tightly. Reisen: “I knew it… I knew it. Something was wrong at the mansion. Emotional pressure, boundary distortion, he must have sensed all of it.”
Eirin reaches out, steady hand on Reisen’s shoulder. Eirin: “Calm down. Freeman has never acted without purpose since the moment he arrived.” 「
She’s about to continue when— SLAM. The door is thrown open violently. Camera whip-pan.
Reimu stands in the doorway — shrine garments disheveled, breath sharp and uneven. Reimu: “Eirin. The weapon Yukari confiscated— The Tau Cannon— it’s GONE.” Silence. A full one-second freeze — Source Engine-style tension.
Sakuya’s voice breaks it. Sakuya “…He took it.” 「……
Patchouli closes her eyes briefly — not surprised, but troubled. Patchouli: “Not out of hostility. If his trauma response spiked, the Tau Cannon would be the first thing he’d secure.”
Eirin lowers her head — a quiet, grim acceptance. Eirin: “…He detected something before any of us did. Again.” 「……
Reisen clenches her fists, voice trembling. Reisen: “What if he reverts to who he was in Black Mesa…? Acting alone. Trusting no one. Walking straight into death like it means nothing.”
Eirin tightens her grip on Reisen’s shoulder. Eirin: “We’re not losing him. Not this time.”
A faint tremor ripples across the room — boundary hum, low and dissonant. Camera vignettes softly. Patchouli looks upward, sensing it fully. Patchouli: “…There it is. The same energy divergence we felt in Xen. It’s converging toward him.” 「……
Reimu steps forward, eyes trembling between fear and resolve. Reimu: “If he fires that weapon recklessly… and triggers a boundary collapse— I’ll stop him. Even if it means killing him.”
Sakuya whispers, bitter, nearly inaudible. Sakuya: “Then he wasn’t wrong to run.” 「……
Patchouli closes her book with finality — soft thock. Patchouli: “This is the crossroads. If we pursue him now… we choose whether this becomes the True Path— or Gensokyo’s end.”
Camera slowly zooms toward Eirin — her face set, calm but burning inside. Eirin: “Everyone prepare. This is no longer about observing a man trying to survive.” Eirin: “This is the consequence of making him fight alone.” CUT TO BLACK.
CHAPTER IX Nowhere To Go — True Ending Path
13:00 — Gensokyo Forest Fringe Music: Joel Nielsen – Surface Tension 2
Fade in from darkness. First-person. Smearing motion blur. HEV LEDs flicker in unstable amber; something in the atmosphere resists calibration. Freeman steps forward, crowbar lowered but ready, the posture of a man who expects the world to hit first.
The suit hums deeper, almost like it’s bracing itself. Rustling. Three points. Four. Six. Not random, patterned.
HEV Suit: “Warning. Unstable energy detected. Adrenaline administered. Antitoxin administered.”
Red eyes appear in the shadows, not feral, simply drawn to him. Tau Cannon residue leaks faintly from his suit, bleeding into the forest air. Sound folds in, branches crack. Enemies converge.
FIRST WAVE — Player Combat Begins Freeman moves automatically, A HL1 evac-hop instinct, muscle memory older than this world. Crowbar swings crack through the air.
Each impact triggers brief distortions: metal scraping warning sirens glitched door alarms G-Man’s filter whisper distant cries from Black Mesa halls Conceptual shock. The youkai flinch not from pain, but from seeing pieces of Freeman’s trauma bleed into their senses. Not magic. Not exorcism. A human mind cracking into the battlefield.
SECOND WAVE — Larger, Faster, Hungrier More shapes close in. Some crawling sideways on trees. Some sprinting low. Some leaping high. HEV Suit: “Reactive Armor synchronizing… 34%.”
Freeman backhops, lands with exoskeleton recoil absorption, counters cleanly. Camera kicks violently when grazed. Breath shakes through the mic. The forest seems to press in, a pressure he remembers from underground labs.
CUTAWAY — Eientei (Brief Cinematic) Eirin looks up from her notes, eyes narrowing. Eirin: “He’s drawing them. The divergence is calling everything to him.” Camera slams back to combat instantly.
THIRD WAVE — Swarm Surges Music spikes. Movement speed subtly increases, controlled, HL1 weight preserved. Crowbar strikes become heavier; the ground shakes with each impact. HEV Suit: “Resistance escalation detected. Breach event probability increasing.”
Freeman gets pushed back. Edges closing. Footing slipping. Almost trapped—
CUT — 0.2 Seconds of Total Silence. A white arc explodes through the frame. Youkai bodies drop in unison. Freeman’s visor catches the trail, a clean, disciplined cut.
Youmu. Standing firm, expression unwavering. Youmu: “Doctor Freeman. Shall we end this… together?” HEV Suit: “Resonance energy detected. Restoring Reactive Armor.”
TEAM ENTRY — Cinematic Assist From behind Freeman’s POV: Reimu’s amulets rain down in controlled bombardments. Sakuya’s knives slice impossibly precise through weak points. Patchouli unleashes elemental volleys. Reisen fires suppressive direction-corrected shots. Tewi disrupts enemy formation with chaotic luck bursts.
No choreography. Just instinct. A unified front: “Protect the anomaly who once saved us.”
FINAL STRIKE — Transition to Cinematic Freeman slams his crowbar into the earth with full force. Shockwave radiates outward, deleting the final wave. HEV Suit: “Unstable energy neutralized. Seek medical attention. Toxicity level… 50%.”
Eirin rushes in, injecting stabilizer. HEV Suit: “Toxicity level… 0%. Power restored to… 50%.”
CINEMATIC DIALOGUE — Aftermath Eirin: “…So. You really chose to stay alive.” 「……
Freeman nods slowly. Sakuya: “Don’t disappear like that again. We nearly broke trying to track you.”
Reimu steps forward, hands trembling, eyes burning, fury tight in her throat. She points her gohei at Freeman’s neck. Reimu: “You. Don’t EVER pull that stunt again.” …… Reimu: “You think you can play god with that weapon? With THIS world?”
HEV Suit: “Adrenaline administered.” Freeman’s grip tightens on his crowbar, not as a weapon, but as grounding. Patchouli: “Reimu. Enough.” 「
Reimu: “No. He needs to—” 「まだよ。彼は――」 Freeman moves. A fast, clean disarm — not threatening, not hostile — the motion of someone removing a dangerous tool from trembling hands.
He lowers her gohei. Gently. Reimu freezes. Reimu: “…I see.” 「…… Reimu: “You’re not trying to hurt me. You just… won’t let anyone push you anymore.”
Freeman turns away. Not rejecting her — just refusing to fight someone who’s already breaking.
Reimu watches him walk, whisper trembling: Reimu: “If a mortal man with a broken past refuses to hate me… Then maybe I’ve done something right… or everything wrong.”
FADE TO BLACK. Subject: Reimu Hakurei, Youmu Konpaku, Tewi Inaba, Yuyuko Saigyouji, Patchouli Knowledge Status: Assignment Successful.
CHAPTER X Stepping Up
22:00 — Eientei, Bamboo Forest Outskirts Music: Joel Nielsen — “Border Worlds” Camera fades in from black to first-person.
Freeman sits half-upright on a weathered stone. HEV suit LEDs flicker dim amber, reflecting off the bamboo. Crowbar across his knees. Not blood, just dust from things that shouldn’t exist. The forest is unnaturally quiet. A single voice breaks the silence.
Eirin approaches lantern in hand. Eirin: “Doctor Freeman.” 「
She steps closer, lantern glow framing her silhouette. Eirin: “Still thinking about everything, huh? I hoped you’d calm down after surviving all that… but you? Calm? That’s impossible.”
Eirin sits beside him—closer than she normally would. Eirin: “I still have plenty of experiments I could run on you, you know.” (Her tone is joking. Her eyes say don’t disappear again.)
Reimu steps forward, hesitant, defensive. Reimu: “You really had to knock my gohei away like that, huh? Is Hakurei pride that worthless to you?” Her voice tries to sound angry. Her eyes don’t match it.
Sakuya answers softly. Sakuya: “If you’d watched him since day one, you’d understand. He didn’t do it out of disrespect. He did it because you cornered him at the worst possible moment.” She glances at Freeman—gentle, grounding.
Patchouli chimes in with dry wit. Patchouli: “Honestly, Reimu… you rarely leave your shrine. You’re lucky he didn’t throw the shrine instead.” The air stiffens.
Reimu explodes back. Reimu: “EXCUSE ME?! I WORK WITH YUKARI ALL DAY, YOU—!” Then she deflates, mumbling under her breath.
Reimu: “…besides… if he really hated me, he wouldn’t be sitting here with all of you.” 「… The group reacts with a teasing “ohhh~”. Reimu: “SHUT UP!!”
Freeman’s mouth twitches—almost a smile. HEV Suit: “Vital signs… stable.”
Eirin taps Freeman’s shoulder gently. Eirin: “Good. You’re finally relaxing. Don’t stop being my experiment, okay? Life’s boring if you die.” Freeman shakes his head slightly, his version of laughter.
Sakuya steps forward, genuine emotion. Sakuya: “I thought we lost you, Doctor Freeman. But you stayed. Even after everything. …Thank you, for giving us more time to understand you.” Her voice nearly cracks.
Youmu speaks with clear sincerity. Youmu: “You’ve faced things even we can’t comprehend. Yet you still stand here, fighting alongside us. That alone says everything.”
Reisen steps closer, hopeful, relieved. Reisen: “So… wanna come back with us? Tewi and Kaguya prepared dinner. They kept asking about you—well, mostly Kaguya. She wants to know how you survived… everything.” Freeman nods slowly. The entire group visibly relaxes.
Reimu pauses behind the group. She watches him stand. Her voice is quiet, meant for herself, not him. Reimu: “If a mortal with a broken past refuses to hate me… maybe I didn’t fail to protect him after all.”
A deeper whisper: Reimu: “He keeps walking, even when everything else tries to kill him. That’s… so unfair.” 「
Final Cinematic Shot Camera pulls back as they walk deeper into the bamboo forest. Freeman in the center. Lantern light swinging through leaves. The full moon above Eientei watches silently. Fade to black.
Ending Text Subject: Yakogoro Eirin, Gordon Freeman Status: Hired. Awaiting Assignment — Phase 3

Lambda Core: Gensokyo III

Prologue - Displacement Camera: slow First-Person awakenings, void motifs, soft boundary distortions
“The Thread Between Worlds” First-Person Perspective – Cinematic Mode The screen emerges from a white-black void, as if reality is still buffering into shape. The ambience is impossibly still. Then—petals drift upward, like gravity reversed. A figure steps through the fog of light.
Yuyuko. Her presence isn’t ethereal this time… it’s heavy, like the air itself kneels around her. She stops just inches in front of Freeman’s FP view. Yuyuko: “You’ve adapted… far too well, Doctor Freeman.”
She tilts her head, eyes shimmering with a moon that isn’t in the sky. Yuyuko “Gensokyo was never meant to shift this quickly, yet everything bends around you—collapse, divergence, reconstruction.” She smiles—gentle, but carrying weight equal to Eirin’s warnings and Yukari’s fear.
Yuyuko “Every faction moves because of you. And the strangest part… you’ve bonded with this land tighter than any spirit I’ve ever led into death.” Her expression darkens, not sinister, but solemn.
Yuyuko: “If you die here, I cannot bring you back. If you vanish… Gensokyo will collapse with you.” A soft, impossible laugh.
Yuyuko: “Isn’t it strange? A mortal human… holding an entire world together.” Her body dissolves into petals, ascending, not falling. The world turns to blinding white. FADE TO WHITE → DISPLACEMENT
Displacement — “Lab Residue” First-Person Perspective – Cinematic Mode A hum—steady, mechanical, wrong. First-person view snaps in and out, like corrupted camera frames. Lights flicker overhead. Old machinery thrums somewhere beyond sight. A voice barely breaks through, “…Freeman… Freeman…!” 「...
A white flash— Eirin’s face fills the view. Pale. Sweating. Eyes trembling with the kind of fear she never allows anyone to see. HEV Suit: “Vital signs stabilizing… Power level: 30%. Antitoxin administered.” Eirin: “…Thank god—thank god… you’re alive…” 「…
She pulls him into a sudden shoulder-embrace, not romantic, not dramatic— but the raw, exhausted relief of someone who nearly watched a world shatter. Freeman lifts his hand and gently wipes the corner of her eye. SFX: soft HEV servo click. Radio static bursts violently in Eirin’s ear.
Reisen (radio): “Eirin! Freeman! Answer me!!” Eirin taps the receiver, her hand slightly shaking. Eirin: “This is Eirin. Speak.” Reisen (radio): “Everyone saw it, orb fragments pulling you both into a dimensional fold! Reimu, Sakuya, Patchouli, Remilia, Yuyuko, Kaguya—everyone’s on alert!”
Freeman steadies himself; Eirin answers with surgical precision. Eirin: “Explain the barrier situation.” Reisen (radio): “The Hakurei Barrier is stabilizing, unnaturally. It stopped cracking… but something else is pulling you out.” A beat of silence.
Reisen (radio) “We can’t retrieve you. Even Yukari refused to force it.” Eirin shuts her eyes briefly—a quiet, resigned exhale. Eirin: “…The boundary denied forced retrieval. That means something is anchoring us.” 「… Reisen (radio) “I’ll keep the channel open. Please… update me.” The radio dies.
Eirin slowly kneels, picking up her medicine arrow, then she spots the Black Mesa crossbow lying discarded on the ground. She hesitates, eyes narrowing at its weight… its history. Then she hands it to Freeman with a calm, unshakable tone. Eirin: “Take this. You’ll need it more than I will.”
First-Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode Freeman grips it. Eirin steps beside him, poised, resolute.   Eirin: “I don’t know what triggered this displacement… but I trust your judgment. Lead the way, Doctor Freeman.” Freeman moves forward. Lights dim. The world narrows into darkness. Fade to black. Proceed to Chapter “Distant Hope”
CHAPTER I Distant Hope
Black Mesa Residue Dimension First-Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode The screen fades in from darkness. Freeman and Eirin walk down a narrow corridor, walls partially collapsed, ceiling panels hanging, lights flickering in sickening half-rhythms. Every footstep echoes with that unmistakable Black Mesa metallic hollowness. Freeman pushes open a corroded metal door. The hinge screeches, harsh and echoing.
Inside lies another corridor, short, five meters, silent enough to hear dust settling. They walk. Eirin stops abruptly. Freeman shifts toward her, then toward a small window ahead—light leaking through like a dying fluorescent bulb. Eirin takes one controlled breath… then steps to the window. Freeman follows.
And then— Freeman freezes. Eirin staggers half a step back, breath sharp. Through the window: Gensokyo. Suspended like a small floating world in the void—clouds swirling around it, the distance impossibly wrong. Like a planet viewed from meters away. Like a memory placed in the wrong universe. HEV Suit: “ANOMALOUS LOCATION — UNKNOWN TERRITORY.”
Eirin lifts her radio, voice trembling beneath restraint. Eirin: “Reisen. You won’t believe this… We’re near Gensokyo—but not in the same plane.” Reisen (radio): “W-WAIT—what?! You’re in another territory?!” Eirin: “Yes. And it’s stable… disturbingly stable.”
Voices whisper faintly on the radio, multiple factions speaking in panic, overlapping, confused. Reisen (radio): “We can’t force you back! Yukari said pulling you out will tear the barrier apart!“ 「強制的に戻すなんて無理!紫が言ってた…無理に引き戻したら結界が裂けるって!」 Eirin lowers the radio slowly. Her eyes stay fixed on the window, on the impossible view. The camera begins a slow zoom-out, showing the corridor warping subtly—Black Mesa architecture overlapping wrong angles like dimensions stacked imperfectly. The screen washes to white. FLASHBACK START
5 Days Earlier — Eientei Roof 00:00 — Full Moon First-Person Perspective – Cinematic Mode Night sky. Clear. Completely still. Freeman stands at the center of the roof. Eirin and Reisen to his left. Sakuya and Patchouli to his right. The camera pans in a careful, slow circle. Moonlight frames them in silver.
Sakuya: “Beautiful, isn’t it? The sky feels different when you’re here, Doctor.” Patchouli: “I’ve read thousands of books… yet not one predicted an anomaly like you.” Reisen: “My mind feels clearer since you arrived. Call it burden, call it purpose… but you push all of us forward.” Eirin “Six months. And not once did you let yourself live alone… even when the world was breaking around you.”
The camera tilts up, moon framed directly above them. Silence stretches. A moment suspended in pure light. The white glow swallows everything. FLASHBACK END
Back in the warped Black Mesa Dimension First-Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode Freeman and Eirin walk again, this time faster, like both have silently accepted the weight on their shoulders. The corridor ahead is pitch-black, humming faintly like a breathing machine. Eirin stops, staring into the darkness. Her voice lowers, soft, but cracked with truth.
Eirin: “It feels like this mission will never end… even if we escape.” She turns to Freeman. Eirin: “You feel the same way… don’t you, Doctor?” Cut to black. Proceed to Chapter “Bow of Enlightenment”.
CHAPTER II Bow of Enlightenment
Black Mesa (Residual Office Wing) First-Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode The hallway hums with dying electrics. Fluorescent tubes flicker like they’re gasping. Loose papers drift despite the still air. Freeman steps through a half-collapsed doorway, the room dark enough that the shadows feel alive. Behind him, Eirin enters lanternlight brushing across derelict desks, broken monitors, and that strange glittering residue coating the surfaces.
Eirin: “I don’t like this room. The air feels wrong… as if it’s remembering something.” A distant pipe groans. The suit replies with a soft electronic chirp—scanning, alert. Freeman spots a crossbow leaning against a toppled file cabinet. The Lambda stencil on the stock is scratched, almost erased. HUD pulse: > CROSSBOW — AMMO 5 / 20
He lifts it. The HEV suit performs a quick systems check. “Reactive Armor Calibrated.” “Crossbow Ammuniton Acquired.” Then, movement. A shape steps through the corridor’s darkness. Not a creature, not a spirit, something between. A distortion folding into a humanoid outline, flickering like it’s skipping frames.
Eirin: “Hold your fire. If you shoot now, the fragments will just reform.” She steps forward in a practiced, almost ritual motion. Her bow materializes in hand, slender, long-tailed arrow glowing faintly. She draws. The air bends around the string. She fires. The arrow pierces the distortion, anchoring it in a sudden flash of orange membrane. The creature staggers, finally solid.
Freeman fires. Bolt cracks through the membrane. The entity collapses into hundreds of glittering motes that vanish as if swallowed by the air. Eirin exhales, then lowers her bow. Eirin: “That was a weak one. There will be stronger clusters ahead. If they form a core, they’ll rip a seam straight open.”
They advance through the office wing. Shards drift together, taking shape, more distortions rising like memories refusing to die. Eirin anchors. Freeman eliminates. A clean rhythm born out of survival and trust. The next obstacle: a sealed door panel, sparking with residual interference. A ventilation shaft above provides the only bypass.
Freeman stacks a crate, climbs onto an overturned desk, and pushes himself into the vent. Metal rattles, dust falling like ash. The crawlspace is narrow, buzzing with a wrong kind of airflow. He drops into a maintenance corridor. Chalk marks line the wall, arrows, warnings, frantic notes from someone long gone. A small whiteboard reads, half-erased: “If containment fails — shoot bow, burn residue.”
They regroup at a junction. Eirin’s expression sharpens, lantern glow tracing her features in quiet severity. Eirin: “This place… it’s built from the remains of someone else’s failure. If we leave a seam alive, it won’t wait. It will collapse everything.”
A low tremor ripples down the hall. The distortions gather, pulling themselves toward a larger shape. A Seam Warden materializes: slow, towering, surrounded by micro-shards swirling like defensive satellites. It roars without sound, space bending around it.
Eirin fires to anchor. Freeman fires to stagger. Ceiling panels crash down around them. The fight becomes rhythm, instinct, necessity. When the Warden collapses, the entire room shivers. Residue surges into a central console, desperately trying to reconstitute its form. Eirin grabs a fallen scanner and sweeps it across the console. Ancient diagrams bloom across the cracked display, symbols mixing tech and ritual. She studies them quietly.
Eirin: “An old stabilization method… bow and arrow as an anchor. Symbolic, practical… or both.” She gestures toward an inactive socket. It needs power.
Freeman locates a manual generator in a storage closet. He cranks it, connects the cable. The console lights up in a trembling hum. Glyphs collapse into a simple diagram: “Anchor → Dissolve Bow → Bind Crossbow → Execute”
Eirin reads a corrupted fragment of Freeman’s own old log captured in the system, her voice steady but heavy. Eirin: “‘Cascade signatures correlate with a new vector. Conventional munitions amplify the echo. A binding vector is required before dissolution.’” She closes the panel and looks at him directly.
Eirin: “We can stop the echo. But every correction comes with a price. You understand that better than any of us… Doctor Freeman.” A blast door unlocks. Light spills in, sterile, harsh, unmistakably Black Mesa. The path forward leads deeper into the facility, toward a louder hum… and something breathing beneath it. Eirin: “Surface Tension is ahead. If we push through the second wing, we can sever the main vector. If we fail—Cascade. If we succeed… we learn how to heal what you brought here.” Music swells, then cuts to silence. Fade to black. Proceed to Chapter “Surface Tension”.
CHAPTER III Surface Tension - Part I
Black Mesa — Ruptured Sector, 2F First-Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode
The lights overhead flicker like they’re struggling to stay alive. Cold neon casts warped shadows across collapsed shelving units and fractured concrete. Ozone hangs faintly in the air, like electricity died here recently and left its ghost behind. Freeman steps forward. Crossbow lowered slightly. The HEV visor hums with quiet static as it analyzes the unstable sector. Eirin follows behind him, movements precise but tense, her eyes reading the room like a battlefield autopsy.
Eirin: “This place is… too quiet. When a battlefield goes silent like this, something bad is waiting.” Freeman gives a small, focused nod. His crossbow rises just a few degrees, ready but controlled.
They step into the central floor plate— BRRRK—KRAAAAACK. The slab collapses like fractured ice. Freeman pushes back instinctively, camera jerks in Source-style recoil. Eirin slips forward.
Metal screams. The floor gives way. She drops— catches onto a bending support beam with both hands. Eirin: “—! Hgh—!” Dust falls past her boots. The void below yawns open into a lower maintenance level.
Eirin steadies her breath, grip tight. Eirin: “…Well. Looks like the floor decided for us, doc.” 「… Freeman kneels at the edge, visor narrowing the world into danger-focused tunnel vision.
Eirin glances down at the darkness waiting below. Eirin: “There’s no climbing back up. I’ll take the lower route. You take the upper floors.” Her voice is steady, but her pupils tremble with the cold realization of forced separation. She releases the beam, drops lightly into the dark corridor beneath, bow drawn in a ready stance.
Freeman stands, turns, and begins moving through the buckled hallway. The walls are marked with faint luminescent streaks—arcs of energy where Eirin’s arrows brushed the surface during the displacement. Every few meters, a Resonant Shard flickers into being—erratic, stuttering like a corrupted frame. Freeman fires quick, sharp crossbow shots. Each creature dissolves into white residue the instant the bolt connects—collapsing without physics, like errors being deleted. He pushes into the next chamber. The radio bursts alive with distorted static.
Eirin (radio): “Doc…—can you hear me…? I’m outside the building now. This place is… enormous.” The signal frays—breaking into harsh noise. Eirin (radio): “Freem—nn—stay alert—Fre—” 「フリ… Silence.
Freeman turns toward the nearest window, and through the cracked glass, far across an exterior catwalk, Eirin stands in silhouette. Tiny. Framed by dust and fractured light. She raises a hand, half wave, half warning, then vanishes behind shifting debris and angle. Freeman steps back from the window and continues forward. Fade to black.
A Short Cinematic Breath Outside the building, Eirin stands alone, gripping her radio tightly—face pale, breath unsteady, bow drawn. Eirin: “…Damn it… Freeman… don’t get lost in there.” 「… Reisen crackles over the radio, panicked and breathless. Reisen (radio): “Eirin?! You’re separated from him?!” The cinematic closes, and gameplay resumes inside the facility. Freeman is alone again. Surface Tension begins. Proceed to “Surface Tension” Part II.
CHAPTER IV Surface Tension - Part II
Ruptured Hall — Core Chamber First-Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode
The corridor stretches ahead like a damaged artery—long, hollow, breathing wrong. Shattered glass crunches beneath Freeman’s HEV boots. The ambience is warped, detuned, like two universes bleeding into the same acoustic space. Shimmering shapes flicker in and out between the ruined pillars. Resonant anomalies, faster, more erratic than before, lunge with distorted, doubled radio-voices. Freeman pivots, firing crossbow bolts with surgical precision. Each hit dissolves a creature into static-white dust.
He pushes deeper until the hallway opens into the main chamber— The HEV Suit Sound spasms. “Warning. Unknown energy detected.” The health meter jitters. Armor value begins leaking, dropping even without being hit.
At the center of the chamber: A massive resonance core, suspended in mid-air like a forced heartbeat of Xen. Chunks of fractured space orbit it, broken geometry spinning in low gravity. Freeman steps closer.
A sound like a collapsing dimension. BOOM—WHUMMMMM. The shockwave hits first-person. The camera whips. Breathing spikes. HEV Suit: “Vital signs dropping.” “Reactive Armor compromised.”
Health falls by 30%. Armor by 40%. A silent countdown begins, Freeman is dying if he does nothing. The music kicks in: Joel Nielsen — Surface Tension 1
Freeman charges the Tau Cannon. The HEV lights shift through cyan, magenta, then deep violet as energy builds. He fires. The first beam tears into the core. CRRRRRAAASH— The entire room vibrates under the pressure.
Freeman braces, charges again. Second beam. WROOOOSH—!! The resonance core fractures like glass under seismic stress. White particles burst outward, like a star dying into ash.
Then, Everything overloads. The chamber ruptures. Space folds inward. Cracks spiderweb through the air itself. Fast fade to black, Not gentle. Like the world blinking out.
CINEMATIC RESCUE Eirin feels the dimensional shockwave tear through reality—her body jerks like she was physically hit. She slams the radio.
Eirin: “Reimu! Yukari! Now!” 紫! Reality distorts. Yukari rips open a forced boundary gap, unstable, trembling like an overloaded portal. Reimu braces herself, holding the crack open with talismans.
Reimu: “Eirin! Move! Get in!” 早く! The Black Mesa structure in the distance begins collapsing. Dust, debris, and dimensional arcs swallow the horizon.
Switch to Freeman as First-Person Perspective – Cinematic Mode Freeman’s silhouette appears—running through sparks and falling concrete, the chamber imploding behind him. Eirin lunges forward. Eirin: “Freeman!!” Yukari’s voice cuts sharp.
Yukari: “MOVE, DOCTOR!” Freeman dives into the portal. CHHHHHKKKK—!! The boundary snaps shut the instant he crosses. The entire Black Mesa Residue sector explodes into white light, silent, absolute.
Return To Eientei — 20:30 First-Person Perspective – Cinematic Mode
They tumble out into Eientei’s courtyard. Dirt. Grass. Lantern light. Breathing hard. HEV alarms fire in overlapping panic: “Warning! Vital signs critical!” “Morphine administered!” “Insufficient medical supplies!” “Seek medical attention!”
Freeman staggers, barely holding upright. Eirin grabs him, eyes sharp with fear beneath control. Reimu checks his chestplate, stunned. Reimu: “No wounds?! How is that even possible—?!”
Yukari steps forward, folding her fan slowly—eyes focused, serious. Yukari: “My boundary nearly tore his system apart. If he wasn’t… him, he’d have died mid-transfer.”
Eirin exhales through her teeth, half scolding, half relieved. Eirin: “Calm down, miko. He tolerates dimensional stress better than any of us.” Then, they all sense it.
Every major Touhou faction is gathered across the courtyard. Sakuya. Patchouli. Reisen. Youmu. Tewi. Kaguya. The shrine maidens. The vampires. The sages. Every gaze lands on Freeman. Standing. Barely. But standing.
Eirin looks at him with a long, slow breath, relief mixing with pride. Eirin: “…Well. Now everyone knows why you went there, Gordon Freeman.” 「… She smirks, tired, impressed. Eirin: “And still… you did a damn good job.” Fade to black. Proceed to Chapter “On A Path”.
CHAPTER V On A Path
21:00 — Eientei First-Person Perspective – Cinematic Mode The screen fades in from black, slow, grainy, like a half-broken HEV system crawling back to life.
Freeman blinks awake in a small, dim tatami room inside Eientei. Paper walls glow with warm evening lantern-light. Far beyond the wall, muffled voices overlap, laughter, clinking dishes, footsteps, far too lively for what just happened. The HEV beeps softly, almost suspiciously calm. “Vital signs stable.” “Neural activity: elevated.”
The door slides open. Eirin steps in, carrying a small tray of medical notes and vials. Her expression is gentle, but her eyes are scanning you, concern hiding behind habit. Eirin: “Doctor Freeman. Finally awake. You’re recovering even faster than I projected.” She sets the tray down, exhales softly.
Eirin: “I still don’t know what you settled in that place… but for now? Rest. Let us handle the noise outside.” She slides the door shut with a quiet click.
First-Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode Freeman stands. The room feels… too warm. Too peaceful. As if someone staged “normal life” around him. He approaches the hallway door leading to the gathering hall. The Door is Locked.
Behind the paper wall, the voices suddenly sharpen, like an audio file fading in: Marisa: “Heeey, Eirin! You’re finally here!”
Reimu: “Where’s Freeman? Didn’t you bring him?” Eirin: “He needs rest. Leave him be.”
Tewi: “C’mon! Let’s eat already!” Sudden laughter erupts — bright, loud, too perfect.
Freeman’s fingers tighten. He turns away.  Hallway — Eientei Interior By the main exit rests his crowbar, set down neatly, intentionally, like someone placed it for him. He kneels. Picks it up. The ambient sound dims, like someone lowered the world’s volume knob. Freeman steps outside.
Bamboo Forest - Open Field The night air is cool. Bamboo leaves whisper. The “party noise” behind him dies instantly, unnaturally, as if the building stopped existing the moment he looked away.
He walks. Then jogs. Then, instinctively, He sprints. No objective markers. No HUD compass. Just the eerie pull of his own survival instinct.
The Bamboo Forest opens into Gensokyo’s moonlit expanse, too pristine, too staged, the sky almost painted. A group of floating youkai orbs drift above the grass. Not hostile. Just watching, synchronizing their glow to his breathing. They part.
Revealing something half-buried in the dirt: An MP5 with an underbarrel grenade launcher, frame glowing with subtle youkai resonance. Freeman kneels. Picks it up. The metal hums like a living creature adapting to him. The HEV reacts: “Foreign energy integrated.” “Ballistic output enhanced.”
Freeman chambers it quietly. Camera tilts upward, moonlit canopy arching overhead like a silent omen. Fade to black.
CUT — Eientei Interior, Cinematic Mode Eirin slides open Freeman’s resting room.
Eirin: “Doctor Freeman? They're waiting, so—” 「フリーマン? The futon is untouched. Floor pristine. No footprints. No dust disturbed. Nothing.
Reisen steps in, pulse trembling. Reisen: “Eirin… where is he?”
Sakuya appears at the doorway, sensing tension. Sakuya: “…He’s gone? Without a word?” 「…
Eirin lowers her head slightly. Eirin: “He left. Quietly. Without leaving a trace.” 「
Sakuya bites down, her guilt surfacing again. Sakuya: “…He’s not running out of recklessness. Something pushed him to move.” 「…
Reisen steps back, unsettled. Reisen: “But why leave a room full of people who care about him…?”
Eirin exhales, the first moment she truly realizes something is deeply wrong. Eirin: “…Because he sensed something we didn’t.” 「…
CUT — Exterior View, Cinematic Mode Camera pulls away from Eientei. Farther. Higher. The forest swallows the building. The moon shines over all of Gensokyo. Fade to black.
TEXT (white, quiet, Black Mesa style): No commander. No orders. No comfort in crowded rooms. He walks the path only he can see— even if the world pretends nothing is wrong.
CHAPTER VI Human Village Outskirts
23:00 — Human Village Outskirts First-Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode Music: Joel Nielsen — Office Complex (Mesa Remix)
The broken wooden gate creaks as Freeman steps through it. Immediately, the HEV suit stiffens, like it senses something older than danger. "Warning. Unknown environment detected." "Antitoxin: Administered." "Calibrating power systems…" "Calibration complete." "Automatic neutralizer: Online."
The outskirts are suffocatingly silent. Collapsed houses. Splintered beams. A dirt path torn open like something dragged itself through it. Weak, half-faded youkai silhouettes twitch in the shadows, not hostile, just… watching the man who shouldn't be here.
Freeman pushes on. He enters a ruined house. Its ceiling is missing, letting moonlight pool onto the floor in a broken grid pattern. And there, leaning against a cracked wall, stands a fading youkai with a fractured spiritual core leaking smoke-like light. He looks up.
LIN — THE FADING YOUKAI Lin doesn’t take a step toward Freeman. He doesn’t need to. His voice is low, tired, but clear— like someone who already accepted his end.
Lin: “Human… Gordon Freeman. I knew you’d eventually walk into this place. Outsiders with purpose always do.”
He pushes himself upright slightly, barely. Lin: “Call me Lin. Easy to remember… for someone who keeps losing places to return to.”
He gestures vaguely toward the ruined village. Lin: “You wondered why heroines avoid this place, right? This village… died long before you arrived.”
Lin: “Some youkai tried to kill you— not out of hatred, but desperation. Your presence distorts us in ways we don’t understand.” 「
He studies Freeman’s HEV suit, its LEDs pulsing in sync with his damaged aura. Lin: “You’re close to the heroines… yet you don’t belong to them. That’s why we accept you.”
He chuckles weakly, almost like a sigh. Lin: “You sensed something they tried to hide. You walked your own path— even knowing some would turn against you.”
The house creaks as Lin shifts his weight, his body nearly collapsing. Lin: “You carry trauma heavier than anything this village ever saw. It’s eating you alive— and still you move.”
Footsteps. Multiple. Fast. The heroines. Lin’s posture sharpens instantly.
Lin: “They’re close… Listen carefully. Extend your hand— the way humans ask for help.” Freeman extends his hand.
Lin smiles softly. Lin: “Good. Let me rest inside your suit. A fading spirit has no place in a dying world— but you still do.”
Lin dissolves, shattering silently into glowing fragments. They surge into the HEV suit. "New energy signature detected." "Calibrating frequencies…" "Resonance energy: Synchronized." "Power level: 100%." "Cloaking field — ACTIVE." Freeman slips out the window as the door bursts open.
HEROINES — ONE SECOND TOO LATE Eirin, Sakuya, and Reisen sweep the room. Eirin: “Damn it, Freeman slipped again.” 「
Sakuya: “Wait. There’s a strange resonance here.” Reisen: “He’s close. Very close.” But the cloaking holds. Freeman watches them leave, silent. Invisible.
LIN’S FINAL ECHO As Freeman walks deeper into the empty roads, a faint vibration runs through the suit. Lin (Echo): “You’re not afraid of them… Interesting.” 「
Lin (Echo): “If only the humans who lived here… were half as strong.” 「
Wind sweeps the street. Lin (Echo): “Makai Fringes. A forbidden edge. If you want the truth they’re hiding— that’s where you walk next.” 「
A final whisper, fragile, fading. Lin (Echo): “Goodbye… Gordon Freeman.” Silence.
FADE TO BLACK — SYSTEM LOG Black screen. Soft, clinical text fades in: The more truth he uncovers, the heavier the weight he must carry— yet he keeps walking.
CHAPTER VII Makai Fringes
First-Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode The moment Freeman steps into the Makai Fringes, the world reacts as if rejecting his existence. Space bends inward like a collapsing reactor core. Dust lifts upward in unnatural pulses, and the sky flickers between void-black and red-violet static. The HEV suit immediately spikes warnings: “Warning. Spatial distortion detected.” “Adrenaline administered.” “Impact risk: EXTREME.”
The ground vibrates under Freeman’s boots. Geometry tears at the edges of his vision, textures folding, then unfolding, like a world mid-render. He raises the crowbar, not out of fear, but because the suit forces the combat stance: “Weapon system: ONLINE.” “Hazard sources: NEARBY.” Freeman advances into the broken landscape. Shapes loom through purple fog, half-rendered silhouettes, missing limbs, missing shadows, missing logic. The environment glitches again—like a dropped frame.
FIRST ENGAGEMENT A distorted figure suddenly stabilizes, a winged anomaly, body flickering between existence and silent void. It screeches, audio tearing, like corrupted WAV data.
Freeman fires the yokai-infused MP5. Rounds detonate in cleansing bursts, violet-green light washing over the creature. It dissolves into particles that evaporate before touching the ground. The suit logs the kill: “Unknown threat neutralized.” “Toxic residue detected.” “Neutralizer active.”
The walls ripple. Distorted hands, geometry bent at impossible angles, reach out from cracked surfaces, swiping through air like broken physics. Freeman bunny-hops forward. Each landing cracks the ground in sharp pulses—the world literally rejecting him.
WAVE TWO — BROKEN BULLET-HELL More anomalies spawn. Not youkai. Not demons. Just corrupted silhouettes, erratic, twitching, moving in unpredictable bursts like bugged AI.
Their movement forms a chaotic bullet-hell pattern, but wrong, jittery, flickering between frame intervals. Freeman switches to crowbar. Lin’s residual spirit energy still laced inside the suit triggers a dimensional rupture on impact.
Crowbar swings emit micro-shockwaves. Anomalies shatter like glass under pressure. MP5 bursts carve temporary pockets of stable space. Each shot suppresses the spatial noise for fractions of a second.
Environmental collapse continues, platforms folding inward, gravity stuttering, textures spiraling like corrupted fractals. Makai is dying. And it’s trying to take Freeman down with it.
SPATIAL COLLAPSE The HEV suit suddenly hard-locks: “WARNING: Spatial collapse imminent.” “Evacuate area immediately.”
Freeman sprints, full exoskeleton engagement. The ground behind him folds like paper sucked into a vacuum. Debris, light, and sound bend backward into a growing singularity at the center of the Fringes. He leaps across a collapsing ridge, the suit giving a final emergency power-boost.
Freeman crashes onto solid ground, sliding on his knees. Behind him, the singularity implodes silently, Makai’s corridor erased in an instant. The suit recalibrates with visible HUD distortion. “Vital signs… stabilizing.” “Mental integrity… COMPROMISED.”
Hard cut to black. Then a single line fades into view: “He walked into a place no miko dared.” “And he came out alive.”
CHAPTER VIII All Eyes
01:00 — Gensokyo Forest, just beyond the Makai Fringes First-Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode
Freeman stumbles out from the collapsing Makai portal. The world around him bends, edges flickering like corrupted frames. The HEV suit fires warnings, frantic but degraded: “Warning. Makai resonance active.” “Cognition distortion: SEVERE.” “Hostile profile: MISINTERPRETED.” Freeman doesn’t respond. Only heavy breathing. Purple vignette stains the FPP view — Makai corruption bleeding into perception.
Radio crackles, violent static. Eirin (radio): “Everyone listen! If you see Gordon Freeman, DO NOT attack! Defensive protocol only! Makai override detected, he is NOT conscious!”
Reimu’s voice screams faintly in the far background of the channel: Reimu (radio, distant): “Restrain him! Don’t let him run again!” 「
Freeman walks forward, silent, posture rigid, Not hostile. Not aware. Just lost. Music rises. Joel Nielsen — “Forget About Freeman”.
Moriya Shrine Gate First-Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode
Freeman breaks into a sprint, exoskeleton engaging automatically. “Adrenaline administered.” “Exoskeleton: Optimal.”
Sanae spots him first, horrified. Sanae: “F-Freeman?! STOP!! YOU’RE IN DANGER—!” Freeman reflexively raises the MP5, A corrupted instinct.
Infused round fires. WHUM—CRACK— Sanae’s spell barrier shatters in a turquoise burst. Suwako: “He’s corrupted! Sanae, fallback! Don’t hit him at full power!” Freeman runs. Player MUST sprint.
Hakurei Shrine First-Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode
Reimu and Marisa stand ready. Reimu: “Freeman! Drop the weapon! Don’t—!” But the suit misreads them. His arms raise automatically. Burst fire detonates across two of Reimu’s barriers.
Marisa: “Damn—he’s not aiming at us! He’s just trying to GET AWAY!” Reimu chases him, breath ragged.
Reimu: “Stop hurting yourself, you idiot!!!” HEV systems flicker: “Power level… 15%.”
Eientei Outskirts First-Person Perspective – Gameplay Mode
Eirin, Sakuya, Patchouli, and Reisen are already there, each sensing the anomaly racing toward them. Eirin: “Gordon Freeman… please STOP!” 「
Eirin fires an anchoring arrow, not to harm, but to disrupt Makai resonance. “Instability detected. Regaining power supplies…”
Sakuya bursts forward, time fracture microburst, the HEV counters with instinctive shielding. Patchouli releases an elemental sigil, the shockwave throws Freeman sideways. “Vital signs dropping. Automatic medical system engaged.”
Reisen moves behind him, optical distortion floods the screen. HUD glitches violently. Sakuya’s knife grazes the armor. Reisen’s round tears into Freeman’s left shoulder.
“Emergency! User death imminent!” “Insufficient medical supplies!” Player can still sprint, but the world tunnels into darkness.
The Hit First-Person Perspective – Cinematic Mode Freeman breaks out of the treeline, almost reaching open ground, SFX: THUD—CRACK—
The world flips sideways. Ground rushes up. Everything muffles—like submerged underwater. Then, “FLATLINE—” “BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP—” Hard cut to black. Silence. Painful silence.
Unknown Dreamscape First-Person Perspective – Cinematic Mode Freeman awakens standing on a formless surface, a fog that behaves like solid ground. No HUD. No heartbeat.
Voices echo into the dark, fractured and trembling: Eirin (echo, distant, breaking): “He flatlined! No—no—Freeman, STAY WITH ME!”
Reisen (crying): “Don’t leave us!! Don’t leave us again!!” 「
Reimu (rage breaking into grief): “You idiot!! Why did you run?! You’re NOT our enemy!!” 「
Patchouli (whisper, trembling): “If he dies… this dimension collapses… I’m not ready…” 「
Youmu (furious, protective): “I’ll cut down anyone who tries to pull him away from us—” 「誰であろうと…
Then, The most stable, cold, haunting voice: Yuyuko: “Girls… join your souls. I will anchor his.” “If he slips… Gensokyo falls.” 「
The world trembles. Freeman runs toward a distant white point. Behind him, thousands of whispers rise: “Don’t die… Don’t die… Don’t die…” 「
As he nears the light— heartbeat fades in. thump… thump… thump… THUMP-THUMP— THUMP-THUMP—
HEV snaps back online: “Regaining heart condition.” “Vital signs… stable.” “Morphine administered.” “Power… restored.” White flash.
01:45 Recovery — Eientei Room First-Person Perspective – Cinematic Mode Freeman opens his eyes. Blur fades, Eientei comes into focus.
Reisen is the closest, tears dripping onto his HEV armor. Reisen (shaking, crying): “Freeman… FREEMAN!!” 「
She throws her arms around him, trembling. Around him stand the others: Reimu — red-eyed, pretending she’s fine. Marisa — restless. Sakuya — guilt heavy in her stare. Patchouli — shaken to her core. Youmu — furious but relieved. Yuyuko — unusually quiet, gravity in her expression. Sanae & Suwako — shaken. Eirin — looks like she almost lost a patient she couldn’t afford to lose.
No one speaks. Everyone understands what almost happened. They nearly killed the man holding Gensokyo together. Camera slowly pulls back as they gather around him. Fade to black.
Closing Text — Reisen (echo) “If anyone can uncover the truth behind Gensokyo’s peace… it’s Gordon Freeman.” 「
CHAPTER IX Classified Ethics
22:30 - Eientei Interior - Heavy Rain - 1 Year after Makai Incident First-person Perspective – Cinematic Mode Freeman sits at the small wooden table inside one of Eientei’s quiet rooms. Only his hands move. His breathing is steady, but the room feels suffocating.
SFX: metal click He locks an MP5 GL magazine into place. Clack, bolt pulled.
He lowers the weapon slightly. A folder sits on the table, edges wet from humidity: “CLASSIFIED — BLACK MESA.” Inside, half-visible documents: blurred photos of destroyed Xen teleport arrays… and a partially exposed sheet: “Freeman — Psychological Evaluation (REDACTED)”. The ventilation grates exhale a thin draft. One loose paper lifts… flaps… drops.
Freeman doesn’t reach for it. He simply stares for a moment, then returns to his weapon inspection. His hands never shake. The sliding door creaks.
Eirin stands there—framed in gold lamplight, expression caught between awe and fear. Eirin: “…Freeman.” 「… (silence) “When you raise that weapon… time feels like it stops for me.”
Sakuya leans on a medicine shelf, arms folded, posture too stiff for her usual composure. Sakuya: “We saw the file. All of it. And honestly… none of us were ready.” “You brought more than wounds back from Black Mesa, Doctor.”
Patchouli quietly adjusts a lock of hair behind her ear, but her eyes are distant, shaken. Patchouli: “What happened in Xen… wasn’t an incident.” “It was the ruin of a person’s life. And it turns out… it was yours.”
Reisen sits closest to him, knees pulled slightly inward— desperately trying to anchor herself. Reisen: “We watched you die, Freeman… and wake up again.” “But what we saw in that file… was so much worse.”
Youmu’s hand rests on her blade’s hilt, not to draw, but to stop her own trembling. Youmu: “I thought I understood burden. I was wrong.” “You carry corpses no one else could bear.”
Sanae stands with her hands clasped, whispering prayers that don’t calm her eyes. Reimu watches the rain through the window. Reimu: “The rain won’t stop… Moriya Shrine doesn’t cry without a reason.” “Is this what came out of that file?”
Alice forces a small smile, it collapses almost immediately. Alice: “Even sitting here with all of us… he isn’t flinching at all.” “Is it because… he’s far more broken than we thought?”
Eirin slowly moves forward, sitting across from Freeman, eyes locked on his. Eirin: “He never rejected us. Not even before the file opened.” 「
Kaguya enters quietly—her footsteps too soft for the tension she carries. Kaguya: “Eirin… if we depend on him more and more… aren’t you afraid of what that leads to?”
Eirin breathes in deeply. Eirin: “I know he can handle it.” “He won’t betray your trust. Freeman is not the kind of man who runs away… not anymore.”
Suwako’s voice is soft—almost painfully gentle. Suwako: “He’s been here more than a year. He walks alone… but he never disappears.” “It’s like Gensokyo carved out a place just for him.”
Alice nods slowly. Alice: “Maybe… this really is the path the world chose.” 「
Joel Nielsen’s “Limitless Potential” begins fading in—soft, hopeful, heavy. Kaguya crosses her arms, firm resolve sharpening her tone. Kaguya: “And if there’s even the slightest threat targeting him, we won’t hesitate.” “Let Freeman take care of the rest. That’s the only fair arrangement.”
Freeman stops cleaning the MP5. He lifts his head. A slow, deliberate nod. Every heroine reacts, not with relief, but with recognition. They accept his choice. He accepts theirs. Fade to black.
Text Log “Subject: Gordon Freeman” “Status: Operation Pending” “Post-Mortem: Unknown” A soft layer of static rolls across the screen… Final line fades in: “The only way to describe Gordon Freeman is… he walks through Cascades that never occurred, in Gensokyo.” — Eirin Yakogoro
